This is sort of a venting post. If you have never had a true migraine, you probably don’t understand what it is like. I very rarely have a your average run of the mill type of headache, where you can take some Tylenol and it will get better. Nope, not me! I was diagnosed with migraine at the ripe old age of 12, and was put on my first round of pain management. It was a beta blocker, but those don’t do much for my headaches. I had actually been having migraine headaches since I was probably 5 or 6. It is somewhat hereditary, my mother has them, one of my brothers, and several of my nieces and nephews. Neither one of my sisters has them. (Lucky dogs!) I began seeing a neurologist about 9 years ago and have been on a pain management regimen, along with an abortive medication ever since. The abortive does just what it says, when I fel a headache coming on, I take one and the headache is stopped. My life has been much better since I began these meds. Migraine can truly rule your life. 2-3 migraine headaches a week, so much pain that only silence and darkness can be tolerated, missing work, not interacting with family, not going out, paranoia (brain tumors, stroke, you will live your life in constant pain, etc.). That is what I mean when I say that if you have never had a real migraine, you probably don’t understand. Yes, I have my abortive medication to take to stop a migraine, but sometimes I run out before it is time to get a refill!! One pill is about 100.00, so I don’t get it filled without insurance covering it. I am allowed 12 pills a month. Sometimes I may go 2 weeks without a headache, but then the next week, I may have one everyday. Anyway, I am currently out of my abortive medication, and won’t be able to get it until next week sometime. Enough of my rant!!!
One thing that does worry me, I pray that my children don’t inherit them. My oldest son (8) does occasionally complain of a headache, so I am on watch with him. So far, they don’t seem to be developing into migraines. My family is wonderfully understanding and patient with me when I have an attack.

I know what you are thinking…”She’s already behind!” I’m sorry this wasn’t here yesterday, if you came by looking. I had a horrible migraine last night and nothing was kicking it out o’ there! So, here it is, and there will be another one tonight. It is just some squiggle that I thought would look cool on some messy, grungy pages. Here is a preview:
